Note: though the course has begun, students can still enroll and catch up on missed content via recordings
Overview:
- A 12-month, part-time Arabic language programme for beginners delivered online via Zoom (see below for timings/schedule)
- Bespoke syllabus centered around Shaykh Abul Hasan Ali an-Nadwi's "Qasas an-Nabiyyin" (Stories of the Prophets), a book written with the beginner in mind; it starts with basic sentences and becomes progressively advanced, building the student's capacity along the way

Timings/schedule:
- This is a 12-month programme of weekly 1-hour lessons
- Weekly lessons on Sundays 10am-11am UK time (GMT/BST) starting Sunday 17 July 2022
- Students unable to attend lessons live are still encouraged to enrol as all students will have access to lesson recordings and the discussion group
- The programme will be delivered in 4 sets of 11 weeks with 2-week breaks in between (44 lessons in total). For a detailed schedule with all dates, click here
- Unforeseen circumstances may mean that some sessions are postponed, or we may collectively agree on some adjustments (e.g., a longer break for Ramadan).
Programme Elements:
- Weekly online lessons (& lesson recordings)
- A discussion group on Telegram (a free messaging app similar to WhatsApp)
- Students will have direct 1-2-1 access to the teacher for questions and discussion via email and Telegram
- Weekly homework tasks (e.g., vocabulary practice via Memrise, short translations, etc.)
- Programme delivered by Tahseen Hamid
Objectives:
- By the end of the programme, students will have a solid foundation in the Arabic language, and will be able to access basic Arabic literature
- We also hope to create a small community of keen Arabists who support one another through their journeys
Audience/requirements/expectations:
- Open to males & females
- Most suitable for beginners who are familiar with Arabic script/alphabet
- Students get out what they put in. However, we will progress at the pace of a good student who puts in an average of approximately 20 minutes of daily review/preparation in between lessons.

2. I understand that unforeseen circumstances may mean some sessions have to be postponed, or additional weeks of break be provided (e.g., in Ramadan), and that the programme may thus go beyond 52 weeks (without additional charge)
3. I commit to paying a total of £132 via an instalment plan of £11 a month for 12 months starting today. I understand that this is an instalment plan, and not a subscription, and is thus not cancellable

6. I commit to maintaining good character and conduct with course facilitators and peers throughout the programme, and to try my best as a student
7. I understand that Lisaan reserves the right to exercise discretion in removing students from the programme without providing a reason, and a full or partial refund will be issued in such an instance
